She liked sad stories best -
the ones that ended (naturally)
in hopeful death and loosened souls.
She grew cold with little matchgirls,
grim with fairytale endings
and read Oscar Wilde
tented in bed on warm afternoons.
Her story, she reasoned,
should end like these -
wreathed in the simple beads
of prose, stark and enduring.
we attended the parties that never ended
and lived like kings and queens
happiness stretched to the horizon
as if we were immortal
so the day the world collapsed
we were too paralysed in our bliss
to take a stand
and the lives we once lived
disintegrated
If poetry be the food of life,
I starve.
Theft and beggary are rife
If poetry be the food of life.
Without this electric knife
And Shakespeare's goose to carve,
If poetry were the food of life,
I'd starve.
His house is made of crumbling slats
of rotted knotted oak
peeling paint
and weakened joints.
The wind blows unfettered
through unshuttered apertures
dragging fresh sunlight in
and memories away.
Even on the clearest days
he visits the front porch
less and less often.
He prefers to explore
those rooms further in
where tide and time have yet to reach.
You recite haiku at the dark coffee house, then you saunter to a corner table as the audience applauds. You drink them all down in a quick swirl of caffeine. Their intense emotions, the bright colors they wear, their scents, cells, and secrets tumble down your throat and disappear. Your white teeth show, your neck lowers your head with its strong muscles.
I watch you. You can't feel my stare amidst all the others. You take another drink. Your hidden sorrow is washed away, a sadness invisible to these people at least. Your words brought luminous images to my mind. Visions of swans and cranes. As you read, I could feel the energy that pulsed t
You be scissors and Ill be rock
You cut deep and I just drop
Feel so weak as I smash into your crotch
Im a liar; Im a liar I swear
You are layered and I am bare
You wont stay naked and I dont care
I dont care
I dont care
Please make me Ill jump so high
Dont say sad things about your life
When were tantric I stay horrified
I could fuck you, make you cream
Hold you down until you screamed
I can call on the worst of me
but...
You still cut, you still wound
And I dont want to abuse

Hello there! :wave:Welcome to the ODDS (oibyrd daily deviations)! I find that far too often artists that are a real talent don't get the credit they deserve. It's easy to get lost in the crowd of artists here on dA so my mission is to turn a :spotlight-left: spotlight :spotlight-right: on those people to give them some more exposure.
PLEASE NOTE - some artists I feature simply because they are bloody brilliant. ;) So pointing out their thousands of fav's will have no effect on me just enjoy them...okay? okay :D And all the pieces featured are poems that I personally like, so please, dont blame the artist, and don't bot

Brilliant work you've got going here. I've just begun to send my work out into the world of publishing. I patiently await replies. This is a great way for writers to become recognized! Thank you for your support.
I just dropped by to tell you how nice it is to see something like this...literature is overlooked so much on this site...but it's nice to see some people appreciate a good piece of literature!
